Building bridges

One of today’s daily activities was to work as a team and design a bridge.  The challenge was to build a structure that crossed the gap between two tables using only wood, drinking straws, tape and glue.  After the bridges had been built, we tested them to see how strong they were by placing coins, screws and heavy books on them.

Each bridge was able to hold 200 coins and 150 screws without breaking, so then we tried big, heavy books. Two teams’ bridges could not support two books and unfortunately broke, but the winning team’s bridge held three books before breaking!

Well done Celia, Ana and Pablo!

Here is a short video that shows us testing the bridges.
